A superb long weekend aboard!

We had a great long weekend aboard Olli, enjoying the warm sunshine and chatting to our new friends and neighbors at the dock.

We headed out on Sunday with Andy, Shell and the kids to go to Pottahawk, an island that is part of the chain of long point.

After 12 miles of cruising a glass calm lake, we dropped anchor off Pottahawk beach, and the kids were eager to get into the water........but only if Uncle Gary went first!

It is still pretty early to be in the lake, but adventurous as i am, i dropped in to about 5 feet of water off the back of the boat to be pleasantly surprised at the temperature....not as cold as i was expecting....hence the swim shirt!

Even the dog wanted in!!

We had a great weekend with family, the kids really enjoying the water.........and the Dog loved running and splashing on the beach.....but the swim back to the boat pooched her out.........

Gary to the rescue!

We also installed the decal on the back of the boat, a good hours work, but thanks to Speedpro London, they did an awesome job.

And what blog post would be complete without Louise enjoying the sun shine!

We are heading to the boat now for a week long vacation aboard, so tales of Ollis travels in Lake Erie will continue........

And remember.................

So Olli was finally in the water for our first weekend!

So our weekend began on Thursday evening when we introduced our third crew mate, Indi to Olli. Needless to say, Indi was a little stressed out on the first evening wondering where we were, and why the floor was moving! We stocked up the refrigerators and coolers for the weekend, and were ready to go! We spent a relaxing evening at the dock, and sunk a few glasses of wine to celebrate. We had a great first nights sleep, wondering if the bed would suit us after being used to a king at home, but all was well.

Friday bought a superb sunny day, with no wind and a glass calm lake, so we set off on our first solo trip onto Lake Erie. We played around with the boat, and i was really glad that we updated our Garmin software to the G2 blue vision which gave us a faultless map to go by on new and shallow waters. we ended up anchoring off a small beach and enjoyed lunch on the water, with Indi enjoying the view, if not the life vest she was wearing.

So after a few hours on the wter we set off back to the marina to tie up and enjoy another BBQ on the transom.

The boat as behaving really well, apart from a few plumbing issues. We had a water leak in the water inlet valve, which I replaced out and Pride Marine offered to pay for, but I then discovered a leak in the sump system which was letting the water from the sinks into the bilge, thanks to a fractured inlet on the sump. so a call to Pride again had them offering to pay for the parts, but it left us with no water on the boat for the remainder of the weekend. Not a huge issue, but a pain not being able to even wash hands on board, so Lysol wipes to the rescue!

saturday bought us to our family coming to visit, Andy Shell and the kids, Ellie Josh and Sam.

So when Indi saw them along the dock, she ran to greet them, then ran back to the boat and inside to get a toy to greet them with. she then ran out onto the transom at full tilt, only to go sliding into the water, toy still in mouth, and then sank under the transom! a good grab and pull, she was on the dry side again, and looked sorry for the effort.

So we set off for a boat trip and again anchored off a small beach so that the kids could splash and play in the 68 degree water........that didn't last too long.

So after a lunch, we set off back to the marina and had a great time cooking up a storm on a small but effective grill on the rear.

Sunday was a day to chill and relax at the dock, and with weather again superb, we did exactly that. The sun pad on the front was a popular place to hang out, but even the dog wanted in.

So when all said and done, a really succesful weekend. Heres hoping for many more to come!

So the day has finally arrived.............

Not without issues.......the company that we bought from had a disaster at one of their other muskoka locations with really bad flooding, meaning that their delivery trailer was submerged and not accessible.

Enter Chris, the delivery captain, who made calls yesterday to other companies to get the boat delivered on time.

Thanks to a great working relationship, he got another company, Bothwell Boatworks, to do the delivery to keep it on schedule.

So a short series of pictures showing the delivery, and launch, with more to follow over the next few days as to how we all made out!

The picture below needs no description!

Louise asked that if and when I was polishing the boat over the coming weekend, if she would be in the way on the sun pad!

Our first weekend aboard with our intrepid third crew member will be fun!
